solar eclipse safety tips

Today’s partial solar eclipse will be in our area approximately 12:40pm. It is set to end around 3:17pm.

Here are some safety tips:

• For viewing, protect your eyes with proper glasses.

• While driving, keep your eyes on the road!

• Don’t just pull over to the side of the road. Park in a safe area (parking lot) to view.

• With traffic congestion likely in some areas, plan ahead. Carpooling is encouraged to help alleviate congestion.

• If you are walking or biking to eclipse viewing locations, be aware of your surroundings and use designated pedestrian walkways and crosswalks.

• While driving, be on the lookout for pedestrians and cyclists.

• Stay informed about weather conditions and any updates or announcements.

• If you see something suspicious, report it: HPD Dispatch 911 or 205-822-5300.
