Our SROs pride themselves on being more than just a law enforcement presence inside the school they are assigned to. They foster relationships with the students and the staff on a daily basis.  They are carefully selected, specifically trained Officers with an aptitude for working with children, and who have been trained on things like adolescent mental health, implicit bias, and crisis response.

It is the intention of the Hoover Police Department and Hoover City Schools to maintain a collaborative relationship to provide a safe and healthy school environment for students, staff and visitors.  The School Resource Officer (SRO) program seeks to accomplish the following goals:

  • Establish a positive working relationship in a cooperative effort to prevent juvenile delinquency and assist in student development.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment on school campuses which will be conducive to learning.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment on school campuses which will be conducive to learning.
