We are proud to announce that recently, two HPD School Resource Officers have reached one of the highest levels of achievement for an SRO. They obtained the status of National SRO Practitioner.
The National SRO Practitioner program was established as a way for NASRO, police agencies, and school districts to recognize officers who have excelled in the area of school-based policing. The program seeks to distinguish those officers who are committed to serving our nation’s youth, along with the communities and schools they serve.
Officer Kevin Hollis and Officer Jason Yarbrough join the ranks of two other existing Hoover PD SRO Practitioners. Officer Brock Hardy received his certificate in December 2021, and Officer Katie Bonham received hers in August 2022.
We are also pleased to announce that it is the goal of every HPD Resource Officer to obtain this status, and the remaining officers in the SRO unit are currently working towards achieving their accreditation.
Congratulations to these officers for going above and beyond not only for the community they serve, but to each and every child in the Hoover City Schools system.
