HPD and HFD honor Pam and gene smith

#FeelGoodFriday

Earlier this week, Hoover PD Chief Nick Derzis and Hoover FD Chief Clay Bentley hosted a dedication ceremony to honor Gene and Pam Smith. They graciously donated a bronze statue to both the Hoover Police and Fire Departments.

Chief Derzis shared, “This one of a kind statue was donated by long time Hoover citizen, business owner, firefighter, elected official and former Council President Gene Smith and his wife, Pam. They’ve always come through whenever we have called on them.”

The Police Department’s new training center is visited by law enforcement officers across the country, and one of the first things people comment on is the sculpture outside the front entrance, Chief Derzis said.

“The meaning behind the statue describes how we are the guardians of our community and its future. We, as police officers, do that by protecting our values and laws, our constitution, and providing one the safest places in the nation to raise a family.”

Once again, thank you again Pam and Gene Smith!
