Hoover Shooting Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder

On March 5, 2024 at approximately 1:13 AM the Hoover 911

Center received a call of a shooting in the 2100 block of Kelly Lane. Responding officers arrived and located an adult male victim in the backyard of the residence suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was transported to UAB Hospital by the Hoover Fire Department with what are believed to be life threatening injuries. He remains at UAB Hospital in stable, but critical condition. The suspect, who lives at the residence, was taken into custody by officers on the scene.

The investigation has led detectives to believe the suspect and victim were acquaintances and had known each other for some time. The victim was with the suspect on the back porch of the residence for a short period of time before their interaction soured and the suspect shot the victim numerous times.

The facts of the case were presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office in Birmingham and the following warrant was obtained:

David Paul Rogers 22-years-old Hoover, AL

• Attempted Murder $60,000 bond

Rogers is currently being held in the Hoover City Jail and will be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail later today.
