Fraud summit for hoover seniors

Fraud Summit Luncheon

Recently Assistant Chief McDuffey and a few other HPD representatives had the pleasure of speaking at a Fraud Summit organized by United Way Area Agency on Aging of Jefferson County and Leadership Hoover.  The event was held at the Hoover Senior Center.

Chief spoke about crimes that specifically target Seniors including Elder Abuse, Identity Theft, and different types of financial scams.  We also shared with the group all of the different ways that Hoover PD communicates with residents to share important updates and information:  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the new and improved Hoover PD website and phone app, Nextdoor, for smartphones, as well as our local media partners.  After a show of hands, we were able to see that the vast majority of the crowd receives information from us via one or more of these outlets.

Thank you for inviting us to be a part of the program.  It’s an honor to serve you, Hoover!
