Kenneth Fountain

Executive Officer Kenneth Fountain was born in Birmingham. He began his law enforcement career in 1994 as a Patrol Officer for the University of Alabama at Birmingham Police Department. Since joining the Hoover Police Department in September 1996, he has served in many different assignments as an Officer, Sergeant and Lieutenant. He also simultaneously served in various positions of the United States Army Reserve before retiring as a Major in 2011, after 22 years of both Active and Reserve duty. In February 2021, he was assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police as the Chief’s Executive Officer. The duties of this office oversees all facets of the daily operations of the Office of the Chief, to include managing the Chief’s projects, Internship program, Ride- Along program and the department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit.
Executive Officer Fountain has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from University of Alabama at Birmingham 1992 and a Master’s of Justice Administration from Faulkner University 2013. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 280.
