donated bronze statue unveiled

Last Friday, we held a special ceremony at Hoover Police Department’s Frank and Pam Barefield Training Center. A specially designed bronze statue was unveiled at the entrance to the building.

Chief Derzis shared, “This one of a kind statue was donated by long time Hoover citizen, business owner, elected official and former Council President Gene Smith and his wife, Pam. A lot of thought went into the statue, created by Nick Christensen of Brodin Studios in Kimball, Minnesota. It is an exact replica of the uniform that we wear on a daily basis, from the boots, to the equipment on the belt, to the badge, to the HPD police hat he is wearing.”

The meaning behind the statue describes how we are the guardians of our community and its future. We, as police officers, do that by protecting our values and laws, our constitution, and providing one the safest places in the nation to raise a family.”

“We are thankful for the support that we receive every single day from the Hoover community. Once again, thank you again Pam and Gene. You have always been there for the Hoover Police Department!”
