#WayToGoWednesday: Detective Ed Leach retires

Congratulations on retirement, HPD Detective Ed Leach. You will be missed!

Detective Leach was recognized at last week’s City Council meeting:

“Congratulations to Officer Ed Leach on 25 years of service with the Hoover Police Department. During his tenure, Officer Leach has served as a patrol officer, master police officer, school resource officer, detective, and a field training officer. He’s attended Explosive Ordinance Disposal School and Special Response Team School. He is also currently an arson investigator, firearms instructor, and an armorer. He has served in the Army National Guard, Coast Guard Reserve, Naval Reserve, and United States Marine Corps. Since obtaining his role in 2016 as a detective in the Property Division, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis’ nickname for Officer Leach has been “Bulldog”. Once he gets a case, he does not let it go! Congratulations, “Bulldog”! Thank you for your service to our country and community.”
