2023 Hoover City Leaders Breakfast
The 2023 Hoover City Leaders Breakfast, organized by the Hoover Parent Teacher Council, was held today at Discovery United Methodist Church. Boy Scout Troop 23 led the Pledge of Allegiance, the Bravaura Show Choir from Berry Middle School performed, and special guest Gene Hallman spoke about the importance of leadership. Hoover Fire Department presented two awards, one was a poetry contest winner and the other was for best fire prevention art. Chief Derzis was honored to recognize an essay award winner, along with two high school students who earned scholarships sponsored by Hoover Police.
5th grade essay winner:
• Asher Piennette, Deer Valley Elementary School, for her essay on School Resource Officer Cedric “CJ” Acoff
Hoover Police Department College Scholarship award winners:
• Aidan Blizzard, Spain Park High School • Jeremy Sigmon, Hoover High School
Once again, special thanks to Mr. Frank Barefield for providing the college scholarships to these very deserving high school seniors.
