Tips from the public help solve another case
On April 25th, HPD asked for the public’s help to identify a female that was wanted for questioning in connection with an Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle case. The offense occurred in the 7100 block of Cahaba Valley Road on April 11, 2017.
After the female’s photo was posted on our social media outlets, tips and suspect information poured in. The Detective working the case was able to identify the suspect and get the following charges screened through the Shelby County DA’s Office (May 3):
Cayla Loraine MOORE, 25 Vandiver, AL
Unlawful Breaking into Motor Vehicle $5,000 bond
Possession of a forged instrument $5,000 bond
Moore is alleged to have forged a check from the victim’s stolen checkbook and cash it at a bank (possession of a forged instrument charge).
After the felony warrants were issued and active, Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested Moore on May 7th. She currently remains in their jail on the bonds totaling $10,000.
HPD appreciates the assistance of SCSO. We also want to thank those who came forward with information. In this particular case, we could not have done it without you, thank you!
(PLEASE NOTE that a criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.)
