Captain Chuck McDonald

Commander, Special Operations

Captain Chuck McDonald began his law enforcement career with the Cobb County Police Department (Georgia) as a patrol officer in 1993. He served as an officer there before joining the Hoover Police Department in 1996. He has worked in various assignments in the Hoover Police Department including uniformed patrol, Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) and Special Response Team (SRT). He has been promoted through the ranks and has held command positions in the Special Response Team, Patrol and Criminal Investigations Divisions. He has also assisted with Public Information Officer.

He was promoted to Captain in July 2016 and assigned as commander of the Special Operations Bureau which incorporates the Hoover City Jail and the Special Response Team (SWAT, Dive Team, Negotiators and Aviation Unit).

Captain McDonald holds a Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree from Georgia State University.
